Jail Tourism Yerawada in Maharashtra: On Republic Day 2021, the Maharashtra government is commencing Jail Tourism in the state. Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has announced that Jail tourism will start in the state on January 26 and Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray will be launching the programme. The jails across India have remained a silent witness to India’s freedom struggle as a pantheon of legendary freedom fighters had been imprisoned by British rulers in these prisons.
The Jail tourism will start in the state from Yerawada Jail on January 26. Many freedom fighters had been jailed at Yerawada Jail, so it will be created as a tourism website. The very first phase of this initiative will start off from 150-year-old Yerawada jail in Pune. The second phase of this initiative will start at Nagpur, Thane, and Ratnagiri Jails. It would be a novel knowledge for citizens, students, and history scholars to understand more about its historical values, state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh stated.
Significance of Yerawada Jail

Jail Tourism Yerawada in Maharashtra Guidelines, ticket costs
The Maharashtra government will levy a compact charge, Rs 5 for college students, Rs 10 for collegians, and Rs 50 for common vacationers.
Maharashtra government in a statement stated that a tourism guide will be offered to the vacationers and the total quantity of vacationers per day will not be permitted to exceed 50.
