COVID-19: With Kerala preparing to re-open schools from November, Education Minister Minister V Sivankutty on Sunday stated that a complete program has been chalked in consultation with a variety of stakeholders for the reopening of educational institutions. The Education Minister also cleared the smog about speculations that his division was not consulted prior to deciding to reopen the schools, reported Kerala news portal, Onmanorama.

The reopening of schools came following the covid critique meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, that took spot on Saturday. The minister decided to reopen offline classes for classes 1-7 and class 10th and 12th from November 1. For the students in other classes, the date of reopening offline classes would be November 15.
Sivankutty stated that the meeting will be carried out by the basic education division with teachers association concerning the college shifts. A meeting of district collectectors will also be scheduled quickly, the minister added.
The meetings will be based on preparing and appropriate arrangements that would be expected for children coming to schools. Provision of masks, hand sanitisers, social distancing will be essential aspects to be kept in thoughts prior to children arrive in college. Not just this, the cars that would be utilised for transporting children will also have to have to be taken care of, he added.
Special masks for students
According to the reports, the state is preparing to come up with specific masks for college children and the educational institutions have currently been asked to stockpile the masks. The meeting also decided that students with low immunity can continue with the on the web classes and not come to college for offline classes.

We have been concerned about SSLC exams and greater secondary exams, but it all turned out smoothly, stated the minister. “We want to set an example in the country by reopening schools for kids,” stated Sivankutty whilst also adding that the government is prepared for course correction in case something goes against the program.
