The World Bank has suspended help to Afghanistan, saying it is “deeply concerned” about the predicament there just after the Taliban seized energy and specifically the prospects for females, a bank spokesperson told AFP.
“We have paused disbursements in our operations in Afghanistan and we are closely monitoring and assessing the situation,” the official stated.
The World Bank has more than two dozen development projects ongoing in the nation and has offered $5.3 billion because 2002, largely in grants, according to the bank’s site.
