The United States stated on Sunday it carried out one more round of air strikes against Iran-backed militia in Iraq and Syria, this time in response to drone attacks by the militia against US personnel and facilities in Iraq.
In a statement, the US military stated it targeted operational and weapons storage facilities at two areas in Syria and one place in Iraq. It did not disclose whether or not it believed everyone was killed or injured.
The strikes came at the path of President Joe Biden, the second time he has ordered retaliatory strikes against Iran-backed militia considering the fact that taking workplace 5 months ago. Biden last ordered restricted strikes against a target in Syria in February, that time in response to rocket attacks in Iraq.
“As demonstrated by this evening’s strikes, President Biden has been clear that he will act to protect US personnel,” the Pentagon stated in a statement.
The Pentagon stated the facilities targeted have been utilized by Iran-backed militia, such as Kataib Hezbollah and Kataib Sayyid al-Shuhada.
