Mamelodi Sundowns and South Africa defender Motjeka Madisha died early Sunday just after crawling out of a burning vehicle wreckage following an accident, a club official told AFP. The 25-year-old star was a single of two occupants of a vehicle that went out of handle, hit an marketing board and burst into flames in eastern Johannesburg, according to the official, who requested anonymity. “I spoke to someone who arrived at the crash scene soon after the accident and he described a horrific scene with one body burnt beyond recognition,” he mentioned.
“Motjeka apparently managed to crawl out of the burning vehicle, but was declared dead by medical personnel at the scene of the accident.”
Madisha is the second Sundowns defender to die in a vehicle accident inside two months just after Anele Ngcongca, close to the eastern city of Durban.
Ngcongca spent nine years with Belgian club Genk and was loaned to French outfit Troyes prior to returning to South Africa 4 years ago.
Madisha was capped 13 instances by South Africa on the back of becoming an established very first selection centre-back in a Sundowns group that has been amongst the strongest in Africa throughout the previous 5 years.
Known as ‘The Brazilians’, they won the 2016 CAF Champions League and have been semi-finalists after and quarter-finalists twice due to the fact.
Sundowns won the Premiership-FA Cup-League Cup treble in South Africa final season and are major of the table just after six rounds of the new league campaign.
