New York, United States:
A ransomware attack launched hours just before the US Independence Day vacation weekend potentially impacted 1,000 organizations, researchers stated Saturday.
Information technologies firm Kaseya confirmed Friday that its “VSA” application — used to handle and monitor computer systems remotely — had been targeted but stated it had restricted the attack to “a very small percentage of our customers” who use the tools.
The application, nonetheless, was manipulated “to encrypt more than 1,000 companies,” cybersecurity specialist Huntress Labs stated on Saturday.
