As the nation is steadily moving towards the adoption of electric automobiles, India’s e-commerce incumbents are turning more than a new leaf with respect to their delivery fleet. Now Walmart-owned Flipkart is aiming to have more than 25,000 electric automobiles into its delivery network by 2030 even as it will support set up charging infrastructure about its delivery hubs and offices in India to quickly track EV adoption. As of now, Amazon’s arch-rival Flipkart has began to deploy two-wheeler and 3-wheeler EVs for deliveries in Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Guwahati, and Pune.
Announcing the improvement on Wednesday, Flipkart mentioned that its EV fleet will also consist of 4-wheelers created and assembled in India as it has partnered with EV makers which includes Hero Electric, Mahindra Electric, and Piaggio. The partnership will allow the deployment of particular automobiles for Flipkart’s 1st and final-mile delivery fleet in the nation. Moreover, the e-commerce firm will also location needs in service contracts, set up charging infrastructure close to its 1,400 provide chain facilities, conduct awareness applications, and encourage delivery executives to use EVs.

The current EV fleet of Flipkart incorporated Hero Electric’s Nyx two-wheeler series with up to 150 kms variety per charge, Treo Zor 3-wheeler from Mahindra Electric, and Ape’ E Xtra FX 3-wheeler from Piaggio.

The improvement came a day soon after Amazon had announced its partnership with Mahindra Electric towards its EV plans for India. Amazon had final year announced that it would have 10,000 EVs in its fleet by 2025 in India. The Treo Zor 3-wheeler, which Flipkart also incorporated in its fleet, will be deployed in seven cities which includes Bengaluru, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Indore, and Lucknow with Amazon India’s network of Delivery Service Partners.
