West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee on Sunday mentioned there was no strategy to start out classes in colleges and universities across the state instantly. After a virtual meeting with Vice-Chancellors of state universities, the minister mentioned, at present campuses can not be opened for students due to the pandemic. “Classes will continue to be held online. The higher education department is of the view, after elicting the opinion of VCs, that classes cannot take place on the campuses in the present situation as the pandemic is still continuing,” Chatterjee mentioned.
Higher educational institutions can also extend the admission approach by one more 15 days at each Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels, the minister mentioned. The UG and PG curriculum will be curtailed in consultation with the respective university authorities, he mentioned.
To a query, Chatterjee mentioned, the 1st semester may well also be performed on the internet if the scenario warrants. The government had earlier mentioned in October that it was mulling to start out on campus activities in different state-run greater educational institutions from December 1 based on the pandemic scenario.
