Bhopal: The energy distribution organizations in Madhya Pradesh have informed the Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (MPERC) that they have written off undesirable and doubtful debts to the tune of Rs 3,212 crore.
This comes as undesirable news for sincere customers who spend their electrical energy dues in time simply because there is a provision below which these organizations can comprehend the quantity from shoppers. The energy Discoms have also asked the MPERC to situation orders to enable them to realise this quantity from shoppers. This loss is compensated by creating a hike in electrical energy tariff exactly where sincere customers bear the brunt.
The 3 energy distribution organizations (Discom) have written off Rs 3,212.10 crore for the year 2018-’19. The East Discom has written off Rs 771.35 crore, Central Discom Rs 1,678.07 crore and West Discom has written off Rs 762.68 crore as undesirable debt.
The energy distribution organizations have filed this report in True-Up Petition with the MPERC. Another shocker for the prevalent customer comes as these organizations have not provided facts of the undesirable debts and the defaulters.
Although energy organizations have revealed the amounts of undesirable and doubtful debts, they have not provided the names of defaulters. Writing off an quantity of Rs 3,200 crore as undesirable debt is no joke. Moreover, the energy organizations are now attempting to pass the buck on to sincere customers, which ought to not be tolerated at all. A group of activists have objected to the correct-up petition filed by the energy organizations and have also urged other customers to come out and object to such a move by the energy organizations.
The final date to submit objections is December 31.
