Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has tested positive for coronavirus, the country’s leading officer of wellness services has tweeted. Mr Khan has isolated himself at household, stated Faisal Sultan, Special Assistant to the Pakistani PM on wellness services.
“PM Imran Khan has tested positive for Covid-19 and is self-isolating at home,” Mr Sultan tweeted, with out providing additional information.

Mr Khan, 68, has been holding typical and frequent meetings lately, such as attending a safety conference held in capital Islamabad that was attended by a big quantity of persons. He addressed the conference with out wearing a mask, and attended yet another gathering to inaugurate a housing project for poor persons in a comparable style on Friday, news agency Reuters reported.
Mr Khan was vaccinated on Thursday.
COVID-19 instances have been increasing in Pakistan. The total instances have passed 6.15 lakh and the death count has crossed more than 13,700.
Most of the new instances came from Pakistan’s biggest and richest province, Punjab.
Pakistani minister Asad Umar stated hospital beds had been filling quickly, and warned of stricter curbs if guidelines had been not followed, news agency Reuters reported. “The new strain (first found in Britain) spreads faster and is more deadly,” he stated on Twitter.
