As per BMC, Sonu Sood carried out structural alterations in a 6-storey residential creatingMumbai: The Bombay High Court today dismissed an appeal and an interim application filed by Bollywood actor Sonu Sood against a BMC notice more than alleged illegal building carried out by him at his residential creating in Juhu region of Mumbai.Justice Prithviraj Chavan, even though dismissing the actor’s appeal and application, mentioned, “Law helps only those who are diligent.”Mr Sood’s lawyer Amogh Singh sought a time of 10 weeks to comply with the notice issued by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in October final year, and requested the higher court to direct the civic body to not initiate demolition action.The court, nevertheless, refused and mentioned the actor had ample chance in the previous and if necessary, he could method the civic body.”The ball is now in the office of the BMC…you (Sonu Sood) may approach them,” Justice Chavan mentioned.”You (Sonu Sood) are too late. You had ample opportunity,” the judge added.Mr Sood approached the higher court earlier this month difficult an order of a city civil court at Dindoshi that had dismissed his suit against the BMC’s notice issued more than the alleged illegal building carried out by him.The actor in the interim application had sought an order from the higher court restraining the BMC from taking any coercive action against his residential home in Juhu region.As per the BMC, Sonu Sood had carried out structural alterations in the six-storey residential creating ‘Shakti Sagar’, and converted it into a hotel with out taking requisite permissions.The actor in his plea claimed he had not carried out any illegal or unauthorised building in the creating.”The petitioner (Sonu Sood) has not made any changes in the building that warrants permission from the BMC. Only those changes that are allowed under the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning (MRTP) Act have been done,” Mr Sood’s advocate Amogh Singh had argued.After getting the notice from the BMC, the actor had approached the civil court, but failed to get relief following which he filed an appeal in the higher court.The BMC earlier this month also filed a complaint at the Juhu police station, searching for an FIR to be lodged against Sood for allegedly converting the residential creating into a hotel with out permission.The complaint letter was sent to the police just after the BMC inspected the creating and located that Sonu Sood had allegedly not complied with the requisitions and was continuing unauthorised building even just after the notice was served to him in October final year.The police are however to register FIR in the case.Sonu Sood, who is recognized for his roles in films like “Dabangg”, “Jodha Akbar” and “Simmba”, came into spotlight final year for his philanthropy work in assisting migrants attain their properties throughout the COVID-19 lockdown.
