Pixel 5a 5G is not cancelled, Google has confirmed. The confirmation comes in response to a bevy of speculations that began to pile up late final evening following a media report that recommended Google had scrapped the Pixel 5a 5G due to the international semiconductor shortage.
Google is certainly not immune to this shortage, although. The Pixel 5a 5G will be out there in pick markets – US and Japan only – and just like final year, Google is not preparing to bring a 5G Pixel phone to India once again (we do not have a confirmation on the Pixel 6 at this point of time). The Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 had been not launched in India due to a quantity of variables which includes neighborhood industry trends and item options which had been supposedly not in their favour. Only the Pixel 4a LTE was launched in India.
But coming back to the Pixel 5a 5G, Google says it will be announced in line with when final year’s a- phone was introduced, which implies about late July-early August. This also implies, there will be no Pixel hardware-associated announcement at the upcoming Google I/O 2021 developer conference scheduled for May 18-20. As for availability, Google is committing a vague “to be available later this year.”

What about Pixel 5a LTE?
Curiously, there is no word on the Pixel 5a LTE – a Pixel phone that could come to India. We do not even know if the phone exists, and if yes, will Google launch it alongside the Pixel 5a 5G (and presumably the Pixel 6) or perhaps – and that is just wishful considering – announce it at I/O.
Google creating a Pixel announcement reacting to a rumour is not unheard of any longer but you cannot aid but point out, this was rather unexpected. Whatever be the case, extended-term Pixel fans can breathe a sigh of relief that the international semiconductor shortage hasn’t got the much better of Google just but. Remember, Samsung – a smartphone behemoth – is not launching a Galaxy Note this year for the very same explanation. Hopefully, Google will have some fantastic news for its Indian fan base as nicely.
