Businessman Harsh Goenka is facing backlash on Twitter for sharing a image that lots of deemed offensive for glorifying poverty. The image shows a lady carrying lights in a wedding procession, with her infant in a sling tied to her shoulders. “I feel like I put in too much effort sometimes. And then I saw this photo! My salute!” wrote the Chairman of RPG Group.

The image, shared on Sunday, has racked up practically 20,000 ‘likes’ and quite a few reactions on the microblogging platform. Although reactions to the photograph had been largely unfavorable, some Twitter customers also praised the pic.

On the other hand, quite a few Twitter customers felt the image was distasteful, specially when coming from a billionaire who has, in the previous, faced equivalent criticism about romanticising poverty.
“Instead of saluting her courage we should feel shame that she has to go through these hardships,” wrote one Twitter user.
“Stop glorifying poverty!” an additional mentioned.
We will have to cease glorifying our personal failures once more and once more. From migrants walking and cycling hundreds kms to justifying this truly unsafe carrying of kid and our personal inabilities to generate conducive surroundings for new mothers… Shame I would say.

Mr Goenka, having said that, has defended his stance as he responded to some of the crucial tweets coming his way. He wrote that he only sought to glorify the “love and courage of a mother”
