A suit in search of a restraining order against Bhansali Productions, actor Alia Bhatt and Mafia Queens of Mumbai author Hussain Zaidi has been dismissed by a civil court in Mumbai. The Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi is based on Zaidi’s book. The lawsuit was filed by Babuji Shah, who claims to be the adopted son of Gangubai Kathiawadi.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali had filed a notice of motion, which was on behalf of the production home and Alia as nicely. The filmmaker had sought rejection of the lawsuit filed by Babuji. According to a report by India Today, Bhansali’s legal group mentioned that the suit must be barred by limitation, offered the reality that the novel was published in 2011 and the suit was filed in December 2020.
The report additional stated that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is getting represented by advocate Pradeep Gandhy and DSK legal group of Anand Desai, Chandrima Mitra, Parag Khandhar and Prachi Garg who apparently claimed that Babuji Shah did not submit any proof to assistance his claim of getting Gangubai Kathiawadi’s adopted son. Apart from that, he was also not thriving in providing any proof about how he is connected to Gangubai due to which he does not have any locus standi to file the lawsuit.
Meanwhile, an earlier report in Pinkvilla revealed that Gangubai Kathiawadi digital rights have currently been sold as a supply revealed, “The post-release streaming rights of Gangubai have been sold to an OTT giant for a hefty sum in the vicinity of Rs 70 crore. The paperwork is currently underway. The star-cast, grandeur and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s goodwill have led the team of Gangubai towards striking this massive deal. “
