Twitter accounts in India: The Government of India has ordered microblogging website Twitter to block 1,178 accounts for allegedly spreading misinformation on farmers’ protest. The Union IT Ministry gave Twitter a list of 1,178 accounts that had been flagged by safety agencies as possessing hyperlinks with supporters of Pakistan or becoming run by Khalistan sympathisers. The Government stated that the accounts had been becoming operated from foreign territories, and had been spreading misinformation as nicely as provocative content with regards to the farmers’ protest, causing a threat to the public order.
