Local vigilantes rescued dozens of schoolchildren abducted by bandits in the northern Nigerian state of Katsina soon after a gun battle, police mentioned Sunday.
Gunmen had abducted about 80 young children on Saturday as they returned to Mahuta village soon after getting attended a religious ceremony, mentioned police spokesman Gambo Isah, of Katsina state police.
