Ottawa:
Canada will get up to 249,000 doses of Pfizer Inc’s COVID-19 vaccine just before the finish of December, assuming it is authorized by the overall health ministry, the government mentioned on Monday.
Canadian regulators are due make an approval selection on the vaccine – which Pfizer is making with German companion BionNTech SE – as early as this week, officials told reporters on Dec 3.
“Following successful negotiations, Canada will receive up to 249,000 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine in December 2020, contingent on Health Canada authorization of the vaccine,” the government mentioned in a statement.
The Liberal government of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau mentioned it expects to obtain a total of six million doses of vaccines created by Pfizer and Moderna Inc for the duration of the very first quarter of subsequent year.
The doses will be sufficient to inoculate 3 million men and women as each vaccines call for two shots about a month apart.
