New Delhi: The final choice on the inclusion of two new IPL teams, which includes 1 franchise from Ahmedabad, is most likely to be taken at BCCI’s Annual General Meeting on December 24.
The induction of two new IPL franchises, apart from the appointment of India’s ICC representative and 3 new national selectors is at the major of the AGM agenda.
The most important agenda of the AGM meeting is to seek approval for two new teams to make it a 10-group IPL.
Ahmedbad franchise in IPL: Adani Group shows interest
PTI reported that 1 franchise is certainly going to be from Ahmedabad.
It is understood that the Adani Group and Sanjeev Goenka’s RPG (owners of the Rising Pune Supergiants) are interested in owning new teams with 1 franchise certainly from Ahmedabad, the report mentioned.
Election of new vice-president
Also on the agenda is the election of a new vice-president. As per norm, the BCCI has sent a 23-point agenda to all affiliated units 21 days prior to the holding of the AGM.
Another vital point will be BCCI’s representative to the ICC and the Asian Cricket Council. It is anticipated that secretary Jay Shah will be the BCCI representative in the worldwide committees.
Appointment of 3 new selectors, along with a chairman of selectors, is also on cards offered that Cricket Committees and Standing Committees are element of the agenda.
“Selection committee is a part of cricket committee plus the technical committee also needs to be formed. They are all statutory sub committees,” a senior BCCI supply mentioned.
