Singer Rihanna and activist Greta Thunberg’s tweets on the ongoing farmers’ protest produced a massive uproar on social media. While some supported them for expressing their solidarity for the farmers, some lashed out at them. Post their tweets, quite a few foreign men and women extended their assistance. The Ministry of External Affairs responding to the comments worldwide issued a statement urging every person that ahead of rushing to comment on such matters all the information be ascertained, and one ought to have a correct understanding of the troubles. The statement referred to ‘sensationalist social media hashtags and comments’ by ‘celebrities and others’ with out mentioning any celeb name.
Bollywood celebs like Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Ekta Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Anupam Kher and other individuals supported this stand by the center and tweeted about it on their respective Twitter handles.
Anupam Kher took an indirect jibe at Rihanna and other international celebs who commented on India’s farmers’ protest. He wrote a poem in Hindi saying, “This poem is for those foreigners who interfere in India’s internal matters”.

For the uninitiated, on Tuesday, Rihanna shared a piece of news on web ban on the protest web sites in India and tweeted, “Why aren’t we talking about this ?!” Activist Greta Thunberg also shared the exact same piece of news to ‘stand in solidarity with the #FarmersProtest in India’.
