The so-referred to as triple disaster impacted Japan’s northeast, such as Miyagi.
Last month, the area was also shaken by an additional powerful quake that injured dozens.
Japan sits on the Pacific “Ring of Fire”, an arc of intense seismic activity that stretches via Southeast Asia and across the Pacific basin.
The nation is consistently hit by quakes and has strict building regulations intended to guarantee buildings can withstand powerful tremors.
