Beijing:
At least 10 folks have been killed and 5 other people listed missing following a passenger ship overturned in a river in southwest China’s Guizhou Province, state-run CGTN-Television reported.
Most of the passengers have been students. The accident occurred at 4:50 p.m. on Saturday in Zangke River in Zangke Township in the city of Liupanshui.
The boat was created to carry up to 40 folks, but authorities are nevertheless checking the precise quantity of passengers, who are mainly believed to be students.
Till Sunday morning 40 folks have been rescued from the river, with 31 in non-life-threatening circumstances, and nine died following getting rescued, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
Five other people are nevertheless missing.
A total of 17 rescue teams and 50 boats have been dispatched to join the search and rescue operation, and an investigation into the trigger of the accident is underway.
