Indian wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya on Thursday (August 5) bagged the silver medal in the men’s 57 kg freestyle occasion following a loss to Russia’s Zavur Uguev in the final. Uguev has been a two-time defending world champion. The ROC wrestler registered a 7-4 win against the 23-year-old Dahiya. The whole nation was rooting for the champion but today was the day for the Russian champion as he defended also effectively to win the bout. Social media is flooded with netizens showering congratulatory messages for Dahiya. Ravi becomes the second Indian wrestler to win the silver medal at the Olympic Games following Sushil Kumar, and a fifth wrestler to bag an Olympic medal. He is Asian Champion in the men’s 57kg freestyle category and a bronze medallist at the 2019 World championships. He won the silver medal at the U23 World Championship in 2018.
