The CM also stated that healthcare authorities have been also consulted just before taking the selection of comprehensive lockdown.
In a bid to rein in the increasing quantity of Coronavirus instances in the state, the newly sworn M K Stalin government in Tamil Nadu has decided to impose a comprehensive lockdown in the state. The comprehensive lockdown will be imposed in the state for a period of two weeks beginning from May 10, news agency PTI reported.
The selection about the comprehensive lockdown in the state was announced by Chief Minister Stalin himself as he stated that the lockdown was becoming imposed due to unavoidable motives. Explaining the rationale behind the government’s selection, the CM stated that the selection was taken soon after he received the feedback from district collectors across the state in a critique meeting on Friday. The CM also stated that healthcare authorities have been also consulted just before taking the selection of comprehensive lockdown.
As per the announcement made by the Chief Minister, the comprehensive lockdown will come into force in the state starting 4 AM on May 10 and last till 4 AM on May 24. The lockdown selection is one of the very first key choices taken by the Stalin government which was sworn in yesterday. A total of 26,645 new instances of Coronavirus have been registered in the state on Friday. The state also registered a record death toll of 197 patients in the last 24 hours. The total quantity of active Covid-19 instances in the state was about 1.35 lakh, as per the wellness division of the state.
Activities permitted for the duration of lockdown in the state:
1. The movement of vital services and goods will continue unhindered for the duration of the morning hours and will be permitted till 12 PM, as per the lockdown guidelines.
2. Banks and ration shops have also been permitted to continue their operations for the duration of the lockdown with downsized employees members in addition to the frontline workers.
3. Restaurants for the duration of the course of the lockdown will only be permitted to supply takeaway services and no in-dining will be permitted.
4. People will also not be permitted to take cabs and auto-rickshaws except for emergency transport needs, which includes hospital, wedding, and funeral, amongst other folks.
